Pippa Lusty back >>
From child protégé to teenage classical virtuoso…Pippa has been plucked from the beaches of Cornwall and her star is firmly on the ascendant.
More Info:
Born in Cornwall 18 years ago, Pippa’s first study at Wells College was violin, and voice as second. It soon became evident however, where her true vocation lie – opera. Highly respected and recognised as a prodigious singer at Wells, Pippa became the youngest member of the schools Chapel and Senior Choirs. Throughout her teens, Pippa would go on to win a plethora of awards for opera and lieder at County Championship level, and passing exams with distinction. Yet it was during her breaks from study and competition that Pippa would return home to her parent’s hotel, where she would be happy to sing for the hotel guests. It was during one of these performances that a regular guest and friend of many years heard her for the fist time, and, astonished by her talent, set up a meeting with a personal contact- Andy Wright, producer/writer for a host of successful classical and crossover artists including Pavarotti, Jeff Beck, Simply Red and the Eurhythmics.
While it is true to say, that Wright’s experience and friendship is able to capture and focus Pippa’s drive, determination and innate talent, Pippa will always be most thankful to the hotel guest for also introducing her to childhood hero and primary inspiration – one of this century’s most famous soprano’s – Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Like Wright before her, Pippa impressed Dame Kiri with her rich, mature sound and confident style. They have since become good friends, and Te Kanawa continues to be supportive.
Pippa Lusty is a typical teenager with a zest for life. She is an outgoing gregarious young lady generates energy all around her. And while she waits to begin her studies at the Royal Academy, she can be found enjoying the sport she loves – surfing. A west country beach girl at heart, Pippa loves hanging with friends, and like most her age, loves to explore new experiences, and musical tastes - amongst the Schubert and Maria Callas listed on her ipod is The Fratellis, Jack Johnson and Marilyn Manson.
